182: Friday's Oddities

• Work, of course. Found that working simply Monday/Friday's has screwed up my schedule. I've found myself telling client's "Have A Good Week" on Friday rather than have a good weekend. On the other side, on Sunday's I feel like it's Friday. I don't know. It just happens. 
• Summer Enrichment LP development with Lily :) Got a lot done. Posting early since I'm going to  DJ Kuttin Kandi's Charity event tonight and I won't be able to post at my usual night...which is an hour before midnight ;P

145 - 149 Recaps: Hemming, Graduating, and Boyfriends amongst other things

145: Stoles and Hemming


I met with Lily at Pangea to receive my stoles from KAMP. As it turns out, I received two. One with material from the Philippines and one that Jon brought home from Thailand that was to be turned into a stole for me. Also, I was there when Jon handed Lily the material and I honestly believed it to be pasalubong. We then met a man named Art who was curious to Lily's stitching in the middle of the cafe and told us of his immigration from the Philippines to here. How he plays the piano for fun and for money. His business care reads "Art on the Piano", art for his name AND art for his skills on the piano. After I got home, Honestly, I hemmed my dress for Graduation.

146: AND DONE WITH UNDERGRAD

Also that day, my parents and Jon finally met. To make it quick, my parents didn't speak a word to him. Not to mention my Dad tried to invalidate my current job as non-major related. Oh boy. Well, at least I'm done with college.

147: Scott's Associates and PARTY!!!

My brother received his ASSOCIATES!!! I got teary eyed watching him finally take that walk down the aisle to his seat and up to receive his diploma. It took six years but gosh, you can't help but feel so proud of his accomplishment. Heck any accomplishment can truly make you feel proud. I honestly didn't know up until that moment what his degree was in (transfer studies) but hey where he goes, he'll realize what he truly wants.

Rochelle threw a graduation party celebrating not only her completion but whomever else's graduation from college as well. Totally IDGAF attitude and caught up with some good friends. Not to mention witnessing some drunk friends for the first time. Sometimes you gotta cut balls where ya need to in order for the creepiness to end. 

149: Setting Up Sunday...

Sitting at Livingroom reading The Bluest Eye. I honestly want to finish reading that book so I can focus on CBEST and CSET credential testing next month.

The more and more I read about LBGTQ issues within high school and those who seek to provide a safe haven for those students. I'm all for equality, I'm all for openness, I'm all for providing the other side of the argument for fair judgement. However as I'm reading the possibilities of what would happen to a teacher that does what I seek to do is apparently teenage drama. It seems that a running claim throughout this argument is that the teacher who suggests LGBTQ literature may be accused of being one. How ignorant is that teacher?

I have a right to protect my students, and I believe that by providing information to learn new things about this sub culture is important to prevent violence against them by allowing people to learn more about them. The more and more I think about these issues within high schools, the more angrier i feel. I just realized that those who are noted in the media of being victims of bullying and committing suicide yet the media concerned in anti-bullying movement are giving light to those who are "different" yet not queer.  thoughts thoughts.

77: Thoughts Towards My Future

the more and more I study for my education class the more I worry about the restriction of my philosophies by ptas, parents, and administrative officials. I'm constantly reading of how they're becoming more wary of what's being taught in the classroom, but what if I feel that it's necessary for those students to know. I'm aiming for urban students, but what benefit do they earn if I'm teaching a class with a 60% population of Latino/as and all I tell is that the Spanish came to North America, gathered Natives to help build the first Mission, Mission San Diego de Alcala and that's the first Mission. I'm neglecting them the truth that they were forced into slavery and to give up their beliefs. By telling my Japanese students, that they were faced with racism because American's thought they were linked to people in Japan who were anti-American related. I'll be forced to neglect to tell them these things, like racism that was given towards those people. They may not fully comprehend it then, but at least at a later time they won't wonder why they didn't learn it earlier.

39: Education

I'm sorting out my post grad plans. Teaching Credential, TEACH for America, all the while GRE, CBEST, and CSET testing. It sounds like after studying English for so long, I'm tracking off into something else and I finally think I'm more comfortable within this realm. I find myself at ease within my Education class and I think an Educator is what I want to be. I have my basis with English but who knows where that will go.
