306: Shoe Shopping.

JAM OF THE DAY - Iggy Azalea ft. TI - Murda Business

  • Cooked my MC and Cheee for what seems liket he fourth time in two months.
  • Details for my birthday are coming together. Breakfast with Jon before teaching at Mr. Carmel, Dinner with Ellie on Monday, Lunch with Keriann on Thursday, and possibly Felix...sometime this week. As well as dinner with my friends on Friday.
  • Oh and I'm going shoe shopping today.

HAPPY 300!!!

  • Wow that just means that 66 more days until the end of the year and that really puts things into perspective here. My birthday is coming up in less than two weeks, Abbey may have puppies in seven weeks and I need to get started on XMas shopping PRONTO. Hopefully this time, Xmas won't be a big pain in my ass this year and hopefully I budgeted more than enough since my friends are expensive.
  • Went to Huli's Mom's house yesterday for her Grandparent's prayer. It was the first time I saw her since David's memorial and it was nice seeing her again despite us being both so tired and me having to indulge in wine. DIONYSIS!!!
  • After the prayer I dropped by Jon's Uncle's house since it was his Mom's birthday. I saw her at FilAmFest and it was another drop by. Couldn't stay too long and I was home by 11PM.
  • HEALTH 190 is almost over and I'm kinda whatever with the grade I get. I didn't really like how I would post stuff and not get credit. I did my time, why am I still taking classes? GRR!!! Well if I end up taking classes in the Spring, I hope they're Child Development.
  • Currently doing stuff for myself at Starbucks and waiting for Jon to get out of the FilAmFest debrief meeting down here. :) Let's get some work done shall we. :)

  • FilAmFest. Taught some people how to write in Baybayin and wrote our name on a board. Had a comment about how I can't speak tagalog but I can write the script. Yeah, funny ain't it. But not knowing the language of my heritage doesn't make me less so. Shows how much of division there is within a culture when a group doesn't accept one for inability to do one thing. Not all American-born Italian's know Italian and neither do those of French or possibly those with a Native American background.
  • Saw Jon's parents. His Mom always waves so enthusiastically at me.
  • Work. Meh.
  • Gas is up to 4.65 avg but I saw as high as 4.85. My poor soul. I don't think I'll have enough gas for the week. :/ Paycheck come soon. kthx

These past two days have been exceptionally exhausting. Yesterday was the Flood Benefit KAMP was hosting with Anakbayan SD and XPO (SDSU Fil-Am Fraternity) where we raised over $100 for Flood Relief in the Philippines

Right now Eugene, Pete and I are prepping for the Baybayin workshop we're making for FilAmFest since we're going to be in the Youth Tent together.

JAM OF THE DAY - Dia Frampton's Daniel

  • KAMP Educational Discussion tonight which had Jon and myself pitted against each other in the battle of Philippine History. Utterly lost with Jon knowing the meaning of the Filipino KKK. I seriously cannot remember that.
  • Full day at Qualcomm, stamped and shoved envelopes. Sold to a group of 131. Feeling the stress of locating undesired overhang seats when our customers are only seeking to watch the sky show.
  • KAMP's Benefit Relief show tomorrow.
  • read the new pixiwoo magazine and considering some lens attachments for my iphone...and when I have money
  • Just finished some KAMP stuff on the website and I"m scrambling to submit this post before midnight.
  • sleepy and behind.

252: Throwback Jam of the Day - Fastball's The Way

Fastball - The Way (1997)

  • Love the over saturation of colors that scream NINETIES! I've been listening to a Spin Doctors/Goo Goo Dolls Pandora station and all of these great songs have just been coming back to me. I've mostly been listening to this channel whenever I'm doing readings for my HEALTH classes or taking notes from the Powerpoint slides. BTW i'm a little bitter that I have a test on Friday. I'm stuck in the 90's.
  • Went to B-'s new apartment three times before he moved to Santa Monica today. Caught up with True Blood and oh my gosh it was insane. Cliffhanger galore.
  • Hours are starting to decrease at Montezuma and my hours at Aztec Ticket Office are about to start. I'm excited.
  • KAMP meeting last night and we developed an outline of nine lps for the school year. It was a work meeting and a productive one.
  • Before the meeting was able to get a lot of reading and outlining done for my HEALTH 101/190 classes since I have a that test.
  • Almost hurt myself at the gym today because I was laughing so hard during Boy Meets World. Cory was apologizing to his Dad through singing Wind Beneath My Wings. Lost my balance from laughing so hard. Kk!

230

I squeezed my eyes shut as I clicked to see how many days had past since my last post. It's been six and again I apologize. As you could tell by the last several posts that my life wasn't really a pocketful of sunshine despite rising San Diego heat. I was just tired of feeling miserable, shitty, and upset all the time and I guess this week was a time for change; I upfrontly told KAMP about my frustrations with my staff position with the feeling that my position has become an upfront chore of "wtf do I have to the website now!" What do I need to do now!? Website redevelopment was a success but the maintenance was bullshit. I was given free will do as I please with the direction of the website, yet people telling me what to do. Despite lack of people coming to the SEPs, I have found that I still have enjoyment within LP development. I want to do that. I like doing it. I WANT to teach in the classroom. It's what I want to do, yet can't find the opportunity elsewhere except KAMP. Finally my confrontation with work. My job has been the base of my frustrations, and I was able to talk it out with Erin. She explained that there is nothing better with my co-worker being chosen myself with assisting the Production Assistant position, it's just that in the long run my tenure is expected to expire in the end of the upcoming school year and she will still be there. I told her that while I have rationalized it to my understanding, the feeling sucks.

Things have been looking up. I'm not agitated with the presence of people nor am I miserable in my place of work. It's a shame when your own boss can detect your discomfort in the office. But it should be different now.

Other news: My Mom and I have been working out together. Strange right!?
Last Thursday, my Mom asked me if we could play tennis together. I tried to teach her, but that failed with her disregard of me telling her how to properly hit the ball. The next day we wandered into the neighboring base gym and worked out for 30mins. She gave me massive grief for the elliptical, slowing down so much the machine turned off, but she ended up loving the BICYCLE!!! I'm warning her that she'll need to switch up exercises but she's resistant. We're going to try to make an arrangement: M/F we'll go to the gym on the base and one-two other days of the week, I'll take it upon myself to go to the gym at SDSU where I'm a member.

Silver Lining: I'm 173 lbs. I've lost 4lbs. It's been over a month, but I'm exercising not to make an impact now but to make a lifestyle change. Although it's not much, it's proof of healthy eating and cutting out foods. weekly exercise and more.

219:

  • Last week really put me behind. SEP 3 was really the laziest week for Lily and myself. Budget lists and LP's weren't even submitted. Luckily Lily and I get the week off so we can regroup and get ready for our collaboration with FANHS. Might get a reporter there and actually act aPublic Relations Coordinator for once and not Website Manager.
  • Registered. It was pretty stressful since my parents wanted me to get 12 units for the CalVet Waiver but since the bs I went through a couple of weeks ago just to register for Mesa placed me at a late registration and a lot of the classes that I wanted or I thought were interesting were already filled. I managed to get HEAL 101 Health & Lifestyle and HEAL 190 Health Education for Teachers which totally makes sense since I'm getting into education.
  • Budgeting my life is tiring me out.
  • Service Engine light is still on. =/ What is new?

202: SEPs

After weeks of planning, the first of the seven workshop series of KAMP's Summer Enrichment Program will begin tomorrow.

Here is the Facebook Event Description

The Kuya-Ate Mentorship Program (KAMP) will be hosting a Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) every Saturday at 3:30 - 5PM. This series of workshops aim to share our lesson plans that we teach in the classroom, to the community. Such lesson plans include; Pre-Colonial Philippines and Baybayin, Four Waves of Immigration, and Filipino/Fil-Am Social Movements of the 20th Century.

Instead of all of the workshops being held at Kalasugan Community Services in National City like we originally stated, the classes will now alternate between ANSIR Innovation Center in Kearny Mesa on Convoy (between Pangea Bakery and Cafe Venti. It's second floor above Tea Garden) and KCS.

We're doing this so the workshops are also easily accessible for our students in our current sites up in Mira Mesa, Mt. Carmel, and Poway.

Schedule/Locations:
  • July 14, 2012: The Intro: Philippines With Love at Kalasugan Community Services (KCS)
  • July 21, 2012: Four Waves of Immigration at ANSIR Innovation Center
  • July 28, 2012: Representations of Filipin@s in War Media at Kalasugan Community Services
  • August 4, 2012: NO WORKSHOP DUE TO KAMP RETREAT
  • August 11, 2012: Movie: Fall of the I-Hotel at ANSIR Innovation Center
  • August 18, 2012: Fil-Am Social Movements of the 20th Century at Kalasugan Community Services (KCS)
  • August 25, 2012: Folktales at ANSIR Innovation Center
  • September 1, 2012: Movie: Generation Gaps Silent Sacrifices/The Debut at Kalasugan Community Services

ANSIR Innovation Center

198: Hot, hot, hot Summer

  • Jeez it was hot. Had to place my cardigan that I kept in my car over my steering wheel since it was burning.
  • Met with Lily around 3PM to discuss logistics over the SEP. Especially regarding the budget and venue. Oy.

196: A Despedida My Good Friend

I'm writing this early since after I get off of work, I'm heading up to Mira Mesa for Thea's Despedida (Going Away Party). She was given a teaching opportunity up in the Bay area and she's leaving sometime this month or beginning of August. So many people leaving, it's difficult to remember every since date to the T. What I can say about Thea, she's super smart (PhD candidate and all), super dedicated to the community (really spearheaded the Social Justice themed LP's in KAMP imo), and the one I find with over 200 photos from last nights club outing and 12 photos of my face tagged on Facebook i.e.

Thea's in the blue
To my left
I'll be heading over to help set up so...another blog that could've potentially been late. So HA!

late 195 and Fourth of July

  • Abbey gnawed two bigger patches on her back. =/
  • Woke up at 10:30am since I got home around 2am after hanging with Rahmaan and Mary
  • Worked with Lily at Starbucks in National City working on the SEP from 12pm to 430pm. That's a good amount of work that was able to be completed.
  • Did some more KAMP related stuff by developing the budget for two more of the workshops as well as emailing a shit load of people.
  • Watched the entire first two series of The Inbetweeners with my sister as I modified more LPs, budget lists, and went on a picture taking spree for my Beauty Blog which is really behind when it comes to Favorite's blogs.
  • Hung out with Rahmaan last night with Mary since Cassandra wasn't feeling well and bailed. Fourth of July was curious in terms of a lot of places since either the bar wasn't open or the bar was open yet the kitchen wasn't. Til Two and Studio Diner were closed but went to Nunu's in North Park/Downtown and Dupars in Point Loma.
  • Hung out with Mary's boyfriend and his friend as well.
  • Mary, Rahmaan, and I all had BJ shots. I got Mary and Rahmaan the first round, and Mary's BF got me the last BJ shot. Rahmaan's shot was courtesy of Michelle and myself. He's going to get us back somehow. :)

191: Something more Permanent

  • I apologize yet again, but this time is for the order of the posts. I forgot to post 189, so when I posted 190 I realized just then that 189 hadn't been posted yet despite being completed. So that's why posts go in the order of 190 then 189. Oy.
  • Not much to say about today. I woke up around 6am like clockwork getting three hours of sleep  :(
  • Ended up getting Jersey Mikes and Jamba Juice for Breakfast with Lily. Got some work done but since she was having some issues with her previous landlord we weren't able to get as much done as we would've liked. Besides...we kinda had heat coma going on.
  • Song for the month of June has to be Joey Ryan's Permanent. I've been having dreams that after consulting dream dictionaries basically say to me that I am unhappy with my current living situation. I heard this song last week and everytime I hear it, I think...yeah...this is how I really feeling at the moment.

late 190: Party Bus? Party Bus :)

Late post again. I apologize. Didn’t do too much on Saturday except for finally finishing Ally McBeal on Netflix, before I had to get ready for Paul's Birthday to be honest. Slept soundly, a welcomed new aspect of trying to incorporate fitness. I snoozed happily and wasn’t too grumpy or…whatever I am in the morning. Just…whatever I guess. Didn’t really go out to do fitness. But…let’s be honest with this new fitness posting and diary but…I was just trying to do dance moves from HowCast’s Fitness Fun series with Hip Hop Cardio. They uploaded another good amount of moves I was willing to try out. I’m finding that since my thighs and calves are still sore, I don’t want to do more strenuous work with them. Should I just push through despite the increasing soreness of my legs? If a workout is not working when you’re feeling it and you’re sore from the workout the day before is it working then? Around 6pm, I went up to Lily, Trish, Brandon, and Rhona’s new place up in Mira Mesa since we were all going to Paul’s Party Bus. Headed to Albertson’s to buy Jose Cuervo since Paul made it BYOBooze and I bought a plant for the Flanders/New Boy House as another house warming present. (When I went there on Tuesday, I bought some jar grips in case Brandon wasn’t there to open jars for them; Air Fresheners…in case…you know…. ) Besides plants in the home promote longer living so, a mini rose plant would be nice. Trish then texted me letting me know when she was going to get to her house so she could get ready and I could do her makeup. She let me know that she had a blemish so I picked up a concealer for her. It was a little hard since she is darker than me and Drugstores Color ranges pan for the light to fair skin folk. Thus leaving us tanner to darker skins out. Got a Jersey Mike Veggie Sub before I headed over so I wouldn’t be drinking on an empty stomach. Got to house around 8PM and was able to give Trish a quick light smokey eye. Got to Pauls around 9pm. The places we went were Pitchers (bar), Star Bar, and Blue Foot (club). There were other places in between like a liquor store for more…liquor and MXN. Got to there place around 3am. Where I napped on the couch. I’m currently tapping the keys on my computer at 7am where I was prompted automatically awake at 6am =/ There’s also no internet in this place so I’m doing this by Microsoft Word.  Plans for today? I’m currently speculating what I should do until Lily gets here. I want to go run at Lake Miramar and finally find that Coconut Milk Ice cream I’ve been craving. Craving so bad. When she gets here were going to do some more Summer Enrichment Program LPs and…chyeah.  That’s all for the morning.

188: Total Body Fitness > 7 Hour Nap

  • I have only a matter of minutes before the clock hits midnight which will then mean that  I've missed over three days of blogging.
  • The last several days have been busy. No really, busy. Well...except for today where I went to work, hit the gym, took my first Group Fitness class in Total Body Fitness. Since I was slow and out of beat (embarrassing), I was having trouble 15 minutes into the class. Hopefully I can go again on Tuesday without fail.
  • Headed home afterwards, and after a cup of my left over Boysenberry yogurt from Yogurtmill from yesterday, I cuddled with Abbey which turned into sleeping for seven hours. Yes, that means I woke up only an hour ago and had dinner. Now my legs and my bum feel like they're melting off and I only hope I can do more intensity training so I can get out of the red zone for Diabetes and High Blood Pressure.

187: Eyes, Oil, and Mini Golf...oh my?

  • No work.
  • Went to my Eye Doctor Appointment and found that I need new glasses.
  • Chilled at home until Rahmaan gave me the green light to come over to his house.
  • Abbey's getting in the habit of knocking over the trash. Luckily, we have a lock on it now :)
underneath all of that, is rahmaan trying to locate my oil filter
  • Went over to Rahmaan's so he could teach me how to change my oil. We went to Autozone to get a $25 deal for a new filter, plug, oil pan, and oil amongst other things for my car. Unlike Autoport that charges $40 and the place around the corner that charges $25 and you wait for three hours. Since my car was foreign and Rahmaan had to get look for the oil filter and plug in my car, instead of teaching me it turned into helping him locate things. The only thing I did was put the oil in. No manual labor for me yet. I'm probably going to have to purchase bricks or a ramp for my car in the near future as well as a socket wrench so I can truly do it on my own and maan's supervision later.
  • bought maan sandwiches from Subway as a Thank You.
cassandra

rahmaan

  • Maan and I hung out with Cassandra and went to  Boomers in El Cajon, Target, and Yogurt Mill. When we arrived in Boomers, I realized that I had been there before with my friend Denise when we were 9 years old. It's not as put together as the one in Clairemont, but the bathrooms were kind of rank and falling apart.

186:

  • work.
  • went up to Mira Mesa to meet with Lily at her new place she's sharing with Rhona, Brandon, and Trish. We continued talking about the lesson plans we're developing for the Cultural Enrichment Program at KCS in a couple of weeks. Jon came over in his lunch break to bring us Orange Chicken. :) After several hours, we finished 2 LPs with Veronica Mars and Daria playing in the background or when we hit a brick wall in planning.
  • when we were done Trish and Jon came over after work and we assembled several tables. Productive day to say the least.

183: Saturday Oddities "Passport" Edition

  • 366 posts may be posted late just like this one since today, which is really 184 I'm getting ready to go to my cousin's wedding! Details later
performances
  • Volunteered at Birney Elementary's Passport Around the World representing the Philippines with   KAMP and House of Philippines. Kids were super cute and sweet and definitely a handful. It made me respect elementary school teachers as well as give me a dose of what to expect if I were ever to become an elementary teacher.
  • Dinner date with Jon for our month anniversary at On The Border.

182: Friday's Oddities

  • Work, of course. Found that working simply Monday/Friday's has screwed up my schedule. I've found myself telling client's "Have A Good Week" on Friday rather than have a good weekend. On the other side, on Sunday's I feel like it's Friday. I don't know. It just happens.
  • Summer Enrichment LP development with Lily :) Got a lot done. Posting early since I'm going to  DJ Kuttin Kandi's Charity event tonight and I won't be able to post at my usual night...which is an hour before midnight ;P

151 - 155 Recaps

Tuesday, Day 151: Not only did all of my grades come in, but I received a 2.9, seeing my grades posted up was a huge relief as it finally felt like a chapter of my life was complete. It was also Michael's last day of work since he was leaving for Kansas City, MO to teach High School for the TEACH Program. Also, I went with Keriann to the new Ulta in Point Loma.

Wednesday, Day 152: Such a doozy that day driving literally all over town. First for brunch with Regine having K Sandwiches and then dropping her off at UCSD for work but not before stopping at Sephora at UTC Mall to pick up Michelle's long awaited blush from Buxom called Breathless. I stopped by her work to drop it off and ended up staying for her lunch break to chat. Afterwards heading down to Chula Vista to Sunnyside Library to pick up CBEST/CSET English Prep books only to run into my old Pilipino language teacher, Ginoong Idos. After listening to his contributions into the development of the Pilipino language program in Los Angeles, he proceeded to tell me about him and Ginang Idos antics to maintain their health; for him Tennis and Ginang, yoga.
Ferry Landing, Coronado
Then I drove my butt again but to meet up with Charlene and Angeli in Coronado hanging out in Ferry Landing updating Charlene about Rochelle's Graduation Party and what I was up to in...life. ;)

Finally we headed back down to Tooma Park where all the girls met up snacked, played Frisbee, learned how to Long Board, and Rochelle and I picked up our Field Hockey sticks after a long time. Sadly I had to leave and drove all the way back up to Kearny for the KAMP meeting at ANSIR to prep for FilGrad. Doozy Right

Thursday, Day 153: Lazed around for awhile since earlier in the week was just so insane but met up with Jen at 345PM catching up over Happy Hour at El Toritos. After bringing Jen home, I met up with Charlene and Angeli for Angeli's group date at Min Sok Chon...totally karaoking it up. :) Still have a blasted voice from this night but it's okay.

Jen and I after Happy Hour at El Toritos
Angeli being fabulous on the mic

Charlene singing 'Touch My Body' by Mariah Carey

Friday, Day 154: Honestly, I was super tired and kinda broke so I went home and hibernated for 7+ hours. Not to mention a slightly shitty day at work. Michelle also created a tumblr page for abbey. Abbeytheshibadiva.tumblr.com :)

Saturday, Day 155: Have data now on my new iPhone but I'm probably going to minimize the data since I'm not quite ready to afford $30/month.  Prepping for FilGrad, cleaning, and huge Queer Eye for the Straight Guy marathon. Great tips and sometimes the straight guy is actually really attractive underneath all of that...stuff they're hiding under. ;P Also revamping my IMATs list.

Randomly, I saw this on DisneyBound which does Disney related outfits, and I think I can totally pull this look off since I have a dress of denim material already. All that's needed is either brown boots or brown wedges and a yellow cardigan. maybe even a brown bag. ;)

124: Update because I fail

  • I was asked to join Admin in KAMP. The committee that discusses all of the internal workings. Since I'm now Public Relations Coordinator, it only seems appropriate that I join these meetings and see what I can contribute and put out into the world. Didn't think I would become part of admin...but i am.
  • Admin hopes I can reach beyond the social networking sites and outreach through other means to promote KAMP. Oy.
  • I wrote a wishlist basically on website updates and fees and it estimated at nearly $300. I almost shit myself. I'm not good with numbers.
  • My Mom went to the Philippines and when I tried to call her there was a painful conversation with her Aunt and my formal tagalog. Either she couldn't hear me or understand me despite trying to speak tagalog.
  • WEEK COUNT: THREE WEEKS TIL GRADUATION
  • My Soda Fountain Dress I ordered from Modcloth for graduation came in the other day. It's about four inches below the knee, so it's very very long and I need to purchase some fashion tape, so I can tailor it four inches before graduation. Next I'll need black kitten heels and a brown or red belt for the big day. Oy

101: Beyond Beauty and Appearance: A SamaTalk

I've been working on this with fellow KAMP Ate/Friend Jessica and it's finally come to fruition, we're no longer in talks and discussion and the knitty gritty is amongst us this Friday! I've been one hell of a balancer this semester and it's my final. But this is an even I've been working on for awhile about Beauty and Appearance. What's crazy is that I'm on the flyer itself. SHITAKE!!!
