322: Wizard of Oz Office and more Halloween

As I may have stated before, Montezuma decided that this year we were going to be The Wizard of Oz for Halloween. I'm still waiting to see if we're going to win for group costume since the office is still bitter about losing to Toxic Crayons last year and ruining our streak.

I was one of the Lollipop Guild.

I'm the one all the way on the right. Kevin was the one all the way on the left and Haley was the one in the middle. I was kinda gangstered out with the high socks. I ended up also saving a lot of money since I was just using Jon's shirt and I used my all black Reeboks and my old Field Hockey socks.

Since I was doing some of the office's makeup, Robyn asked me if I could give her some wrinkles since she was Auntie Em.

Lia as the Wicked Witch of the West

Sara as the "Cowardly" Lion. I just used her brown eyeliner to fill in her nose, give her dots for whiskers and her liquid eyeliner for her cat eye.

You have to give it to Andrew for being very into his Halloween costume as the Scarecrow. He was even asking if I could cut up some of that material and using Spirit Gum so it could stick to his face.

A better picture of us without the sun in our eyes but without Kevin. Props to Lauren for walking around with a house on her body.

That is just going to be the 2/3 costumes that I will be wearing this yea - last Saturday I was a Sugar Skull. All that is left is my River Song DIY costume with Jon as the 11th Doctor. :)

I initially was trying for this outfit but for some reason a white peacoat that could pass for this sweater was not going to be in stores around the Fall :(

So I'm going to go for this look instead but instead of a revolver I'm going to stick with the Nerf Gun I purchased for the other outfit.

This is my River Song diary that I got over Etsy. Isn't it CUTE! I love the extra details the seller gave. :)
I'm pretty proud because counting it all up, for three costumes I've only spent around $45: $10 for the Nerf Gun, $15 for the River Song Diary, and about $20 for the Dickie Shorts. That easily beats last year since I had to get lace gloves, my Bieber TShirt, and other things. More pics tomorrow :)

JAM OF THE DAY - Dia Frampton's Daniel

  • KAMP Educational Discussion tonight which had Jon and myself pitted against each other in the battle of Philippine History. Utterly lost with Jon knowing the meaning of the Filipino KKK. I seriously cannot remember that.
  • Full day at Qualcomm, stamped and shoved envelopes. Sold to a group of 131. Feeling the stress of locating undesired overhang seats when our customers are only seeking to watch the sky show.
  • KAMP's Benefit Relief show tomorrow.
  • read the new pixiwoo magazine and considering some lens attachments for my iphone...and when I have money
  • Just finished some KAMP stuff on the website and I"m scrambling to submit this post before midnight.
  • sleepy and behind.

243: Overview

  • Oy. Sorry about that. Things have been hectic; going back to full time, working out three times a week. People who want to see me.
  • Saw Keriann on Thursday. Played with makeup, she put makeup on me, had dinner, watched makeup videos and talked about the application to Korea. Can't believe my application is due in a little over two weeks. WHOA!!!
  • Friday, I went to the gym with my Mom. I always fall asleep after coming home with the gym.
  • Saturday, brought abbey to the shiba meet up in Coronado. Didn't see any shiba meet up but saw two shibas. Abbey ignored every single one of them. She sat in the sand and was afraid of the water. Luckily for herself, everyone thought she was a cute dog sitting by her lonesome. Dragged her in a couple of times and she was not happy for the experience. :P After that, I went to the gym with Rahmaan and Cassandra at 24hr on a free 3-day pass where we stayed for over two hours making me use machines and barbells. Also went to the Yogurt Mill as a Thank You for driving.

Don't be fooled. She hates the water
  • Was domestic on Sunday: cooked eggs for breakfast, washed my car, put away my laundry, made salmon for dinner and cooked rice. Didn't get to go to the gym with rahmaan and see regina. :( But I was pretty damn domestic.
  • Work was slow yesterday. But I got a chance to look into my online classes that started. They relatively have the same content but different aims: one is for overall health and wellness. The other incorporates the lesson of overall health and wellness and incorporates it into understanding of health laws in the state of california.
  • All-day Date with Jon today. :) We haven't seen in each other since Wednesday and haven't had a lot of time to talk since I pass out after I go to the gym...and that's when he calls. >_<

214: Last week sucked by here's the low down.

  • Alright, I know I've been lagging on the posts lately and I apologize. Last week wasn't really going for me. The application to do Fall at Mesa was giving me a pain in the ass. It was sorted out and I don't have to register until next Monday. My prospective schedule now is Health for Teachers, Journal/Media Reporting, History through Asian American Perspective, and World Literature. I had to throw myself back into books somehow and it was the only one that suited my schedule and fancy. I see that I'll be here at SDSU a lot since I kinda loathe the facilities of Mesa. I hated it there two years ago, I kinda still do and really want to minimize the amount of times I go there per week. So twice isn't that bad.
  • Since my last post indirectly was a memorium for David's one year. It was his one year. Another part of my shitty week was the direct insensitivity my Mom had towards my sister. There's no really nice way to say it. If I see this many years in the future, this is the honest truth towards those events. It's common knowledge that she lacks sensitivity towards anything and really something is a joke she takes it too seriously and we get yelled at for her lack of awareness. i.e when we mess around she says that San Diego can hear us. -__/) Anywho, with this past year my Mom hasn't failed to say something that knocks Michelle off edge when it comes to David. On Christmas Day she said that it looked like Abbey was waiting for David to come home, thus spiraling her into tears. Hypersensitivity doesn't have to be like Quantum Physics. So I tried to tell her that with his one year, don't say anything that will make Michelle upset. What does she do? Calls her right after I told her to be aware of what she says and yells at Michelle due to a ongoing fight about her phone. I will get into that another day but in short our Mom doesn't want a phone but she has one and doesn't answer it. Michelle called crying. Seriously, what did I just say!? Ugh. So for David's anniversary, Michelle and I planned to make a day that was all about her. Instead of sulking we go out. The original plan was to go to a day spa and makeup shopping. Within the last week it turned into Camera Ready Cosmetics, Panera Bread for lunch, Target to buy necessitates like Q-tips. We then went home to pick up Abbey and play with our goodies from Camera Ready Cosmetics, I bought a Z-Palette for myself and for Michelle and a Brush cleaner. We then went to the Dog park in El Cajon for the Shiba Meet up where we met other Shibas like Abbey hoping to find her a mate. It didn't go so well since Abbey is socially dog awkward and kept to myself and Michelle. Plus, the boy dogs humped other boy dogs or they were neutered. The day ended with salads for myself and Michelle at apparently now called O's American Kitchen previously known as Pat & Oscars or Oscars. It'll be Oscars to me. Wait...I lied...Michelle saw a Joanns Fabrics and we stopped by to see if they had Mason jars since Michelle wanted to make a lantern. That's where we ended the night.
  • BTW: Michelle has been on this crafty kick and I've been cooking a lot. We're sort of domestic now.
  • Spent this past Monday with Jon. Service Engine light turned on in Mira Mesa and luckily I made it home amongst traffic. It's being towed to Autoport Saturday morning.
  • Hung out with Nicole, Louie, and Melissa played our makeshift Scattergories, Pesoy Dos, and talked about future graduation plans for themselves and post grad plans for myself. Also, Nicole invited me to their writing group. I've been doing poetry lately, but it doesn't hurt getting back into the fiction game.
Well that's the jist. Hopefully I'll post tomorrow :)

Song of the Day: Peter Pan Complex - 자꾸만 눈이 마주쳐

  • Yeah, yeah it's in Korean. Yeah, I don't have a clue as to what in the world he's saying. But if there's one truth about music. It's universal and if you like how it makes you groove, feel, or what not why not enjoy it. When I first heard this song back in February, I was immediately reminded on The New Pornographer's "Sing Me Spanish Techno", maybe it's the electronic beats. But this is probably the first indie Korean song that I really liked.
No makeup
versus with makeup
  • No makeup today. Makeup fanatics may cringe at that idea, but for me sometimes being without makeup can be a liberating kind feeling. 30minutes of more free time. Just pop on my moisturizer - just because I said no makeup doesn't mean I can skip on the skin care aspect. There was one thing I wanted to do when I got back into makeup three years ago, and that was not to feel as if I had to be one with the makeup I was wearing. Not to feel that I was disgusting and ugly without these products on. I remember being a teenager during one of my many attempts to get into makeup, foundation and all and when I saw how I looked without my makeup, I cringed inside. There was this assumed pale sickly shade that I associated with my real skin tone. I wanted the bottle to be my real skin tone. But that really shouldn't be it when it comes to makeup. So I step out into society and say, hey here are my flaws. Got a problem with them?

  • I made a fitness board on pinterest and I found this magazine article that was very interesting. I think this is from an Australian magazine since some of the ingredients from those recipes are only available in Australia.

FITNESS DIARY

  •  Got to the Gym around 4:50pm. I decided to walk to the gym from my car in PS1 across campus. Just so I could add an additional 13minute walk to and from the gym totaling 26 minutes of strides. Did elliptical for 35 minutes. Since friends was on, it was actually pretty helpful to have it on so the 30 minutes went by quickly. I found an ab machine and a torso toner. I tried to do 100 crunches on that machine and I think I need to up the weights on that machine. I consoled Livestrong.com which I'm starting to find has the answer to everything like, "change exercises every 2-3 weeks and with regular exercise a deficit of 500 calories/day can lead to losing 1 lbs a week. (http://www.livestrong.com/article/523201-how-many-crunches-a-day-to-get-in-shape/ )I think I need to up the challenge on those work outs. Total Body Challenge tomorrow at 1pm. EE! I think I'll try to go to Rohr Park tomorrow morning to go running and then head over to the gym early for some work outs and then the class.

175: turn disappointment into dinner with the boyfriend

Apparently imats la tickets sold out the other day, so bust on the LA trip next weekend. Also I just learned that the CSET: English is about $49-51 per subtest. I almost spent $200. Um...one for now, I think I'll need more time on that Linguistics subtest anyhow.

Dinner with Jon later. :)

171: Del Mar, Glam Bags, and Beauty Blogging

Jon and I are going to Del Mar tomorrow. My co-worker Robyn let us all in this sweet deal that for the first day of the fair and June 12th, the tickets were going to be $4 each if you purchase it at Albertson's with another purchase. So this morning, Jon quickly went to Albertson's and scored us the tickets since we were planning on going tomorrow anyway. We're going after I get off of work though since my Manager added another day into my schedule.

My parent's are asking me to up my insurance pay since I'm mostly working now. It's a little disconcerting since the majority of my hours will not be coming in until July, but I might have to cancel some of my subscriptions like Jewelmint and myGlam.

My June Glam bag came in the mail and I'm interested in everything in the bag with the exception of the bag. It's terribly glittery and it smells funny. I hate to experiment with the majority of the items tomorrow during the fair but it's okay. :)

Speaking of makeup, I'm trying to get myself back into the makeup blogging grind since I've been out of it when midterms hit back in March. So I'm trying to post at least once to twice a week and maybe get into the photo uploading habit...since I don't upload too often.

I tried to make a First Impressions video of the Glam Bag with my video on iMovie, but it was terrible to place anything right next to my computer since it captured all of the noises. Maybe I'll have to up the Camera purchase soon.

165: Future Makeup Table

Posting into the early hours of the 166 but hey, 165 is still fresh. Spent most of the day putting away my college work into my college box. Stressing out between CBEST testing since I'm not really used to the math and reading comprehension portions and finding out where to put the paperwork that is really just desk material. Michelle and I are now in talks about purchasing a new desk since her old makeup table doesn't have the capacity to hold both of our things.

I'm really liking this desk especially with the magnetic backboard from Ikea. .
The area that holds the computer modem could hold our containers holding school supplies for easy access. Plus any desk paperwork that is still needed could go on the very top. Not to mention the awesome magnetic backboard that can hold any things posted on my walls. Plus the designated pull out drawer could hold the go to items and my huge palettes could also go on top.

151 - 155 Recaps

Tuesday, Day 151: Not only did all of my grades come in, but I received a 2.9, seeing my grades posted up was a huge relief as it finally felt like a chapter of my life was complete. It was also Michael's last day of work since he was leaving for Kansas City, MO to teach High School for the TEACH Program. Also, I went with Keriann to the new Ulta in Point Loma.

Wednesday, Day 152: Such a doozy that day driving literally all over town. First for brunch with Regine having K Sandwiches and then dropping her off at UCSD for work but not before stopping at Sephora at UTC Mall to pick up Michelle's long awaited blush from Buxom called Breathless. I stopped by her work to drop it off and ended up staying for her lunch break to chat. Afterwards heading down to Chula Vista to Sunnyside Library to pick up CBEST/CSET English Prep books only to run into my old Pilipino language teacher, Ginoong Idos. After listening to his contributions into the development of the Pilipino language program in Los Angeles, he proceeded to tell me about him and Ginang Idos antics to maintain their health; for him Tennis and Ginang, yoga.
Ferry Landing, Coronado
Then I drove my butt again but to meet up with Charlene and Angeli in Coronado hanging out in Ferry Landing updating Charlene about Rochelle's Graduation Party and what I was up to in...life. ;)

Finally we headed back down to Tooma Park where all the girls met up snacked, played Frisbee, learned how to Long Board, and Rochelle and I picked up our Field Hockey sticks after a long time. Sadly I had to leave and drove all the way back up to Kearny for the KAMP meeting at ANSIR to prep for FilGrad. Doozy Right

Thursday, Day 153: Lazed around for awhile since earlier in the week was just so insane but met up with Jen at 345PM catching up over Happy Hour at El Toritos. After bringing Jen home, I met up with Charlene and Angeli for Angeli's group date at Min Sok Chon...totally karaoking it up. :) Still have a blasted voice from this night but it's okay.

Jen and I after Happy Hour at El Toritos
Angeli being fabulous on the mic

Charlene singing 'Touch My Body' by Mariah Carey

Friday, Day 154: Honestly, I was super tired and kinda broke so I went home and hibernated for 7+ hours. Not to mention a slightly shitty day at work. Michelle also created a tumblr page for abbey. Abbeytheshibadiva.tumblr.com :)

Saturday, Day 155: Have data now on my new iPhone but I'm probably going to minimize the data since I'm not quite ready to afford $30/month.  Prepping for FilGrad, cleaning, and huge Queer Eye for the Straight Guy marathon. Great tips and sometimes the straight guy is actually really attractive underneath all of that...stuff they're hiding under. ;P Also revamping my IMATs list.

Randomly, I saw this on DisneyBound which does Disney related outfits, and I think I can totally pull this look off since I have a dress of denim material already. All that's needed is either brown boots or brown wedges and a yellow cardigan. maybe even a brown bag. ;)

135: Makeup Distraction

Alright really fast since makeup is on my mind despite working on a paper. I have the upmost respect for Drag Makeup. Actually makeup as a transformative measure. A lot of time and energy is spent into acquiring features that we may not be able to attain otherwise. I've been watching a lot of Drag Makeup Tutorials lately to try to get an understanding of some of the techniques that they do. For example, I've noticed that a lot of Drag looks include the heavy use of black shadow or liner to create a false crease creating depth into the eye. One perfect example is Manila Luzon, who at times when I look at her her application can make me believe for a second she is a real woman.

Case in point her: Her Lady Liberty outfit and first several makeup looks with the Makeup artists using black

With my Undergraduate Career over in a matter of days, I'm willing to try these techniques out. I'm also thinking about Cosplay. Now not cosplay where I dress up, but techniques that give the illusion of anime eyes or facial features inspired by my favorite characters. I've developed a list of Cartoon characters that I wouldn't mind recreating and creating an inspired look of. That's all. Janel needs to go back to her paper.

Something I've Always Found Amusing

Let's say you fall asleep after a very tiresome night, but the next morning to your chagrin you realize that you didn't wash off the makeup you were wearing. No matter how minimal, even if it's just some mascara and eyeliner, you gotta wash that off. I may not know the details, but it has something to do with premature wrinkles/crow feet. So you pop up, Frankenstein (or Undertaker) status horrified, rubbing your eyes as you see evidence of your mistake. A bit over dramatic, but it is.

This morning when I woke up, I just had immediate feeling that I didn't wash off my makeup from the previous night. So I immediately jumped up holding my face, freaking out. That was until I realized that I took off my makeup before going to bed.
Heh. My bad ;)
