SOTD: Airports and Pilates

  • I think my Snapshots will be a weekly thing. Seeing how I was unable to do a daily blogpost, I think it might be a better idea to do a weekly photo post. Sneakpeak:

Monday, January 7, 2013: Picking up Michelle from the San Diego International Airport after her trip to AK.
  • I'm freaking sore from the Pilates classes that I've been taking in Little Italy. I've been doing moves that resemble this pose and quite frankly I can't tell if I'm sore from the workout OR if I have terrible posture that is showing it's consequences on my hip joints. I've been sore since Friday, so I'm wondering if after today I'll still be incredibly sore. Today was my break, but I'm really liking that I really got a workout out of this place. I'm thinking of transferring to their College/Mission Valley center when it opens on the 21st.
  • Realized that one of my good friends is actually 27, several years than what I thought what he really was. I'm a terrible friend. Anywho that lead to figuring out what everybody in the office was and I became quite surprised of the real ages of my co-workers.

  • Today would've been my Lola's 92nd Birthday. I still think about her a lot and I'm still able to have a good cry when I think about her and how much has changed since she left. Michelle, Scott, and I had a shot for her. Anywho, Happy Grandparent's Day :)
  • Everytime I log onto this blog, I squeeze my eyes just to see how far I am behind on blogging. I'm four days behind. But that goes to show how EXHAUSTED I am when it comes to full time work and just wanting to sleep.
  • So my car went into the shop on Wednesday. Sadly, Autoport couldn't detect the issues that were leading to my Check Engine light being on so they had to direct us to a dealership. The dealership found that the not only were the  four coils (which autoport did detect were an issue, but just one) were an issue including the catalytic converter was burning out. This brought up to over $1500, then the guy calls me the next day that he fucked up on the price since he only told me the price of one coil instead of all four and it turned out to be $2000. OMG! I know that I should get ready to make another savings for another car.
  • Since I started working two jobs during the week and Jon with his work and Grad school, we haven't seen much of each other lately. Luckily Jon visited me after my second attempt at the CBEST yesterday. We had Boudin's and he dropped me off at the Fashion Valley Transit Center so I could catch the trolley to Qualcomm.
  • FITNESS UPDATE: In between the test and seeing Jon, I was able to stop by the ARC and worked out for over an hour and saw that I was down several more pounds. Making that since I started this weight loss journey I've lost 10lbs. :) But don't worry about Boudins, I had a Mediterranean salad.

230

I squeezed my eyes shut as I clicked to see how many days had past since my last post. It's been six and again I apologize. As you could tell by the last several posts that my life wasn't really a pocketful of sunshine despite rising San Diego heat. I was just tired of feeling miserable, shitty, and upset all the time and I guess this week was a time for change; I upfrontly told KAMP about my frustrations with my staff position with the feeling that my position has become an upfront chore of "wtf do I have to the website now!" What do I need to do now!? Website redevelopment was a success but the maintenance was bullshit. I was given free will do as I please with the direction of the website, yet people telling me what to do. Despite lack of people coming to the SEPs, I have found that I still have enjoyment within LP development. I want to do that. I like doing it. I WANT to teach in the classroom. It's what I want to do, yet can't find the opportunity elsewhere except KAMP. Finally my confrontation with work. My job has been the base of my frustrations, and I was able to talk it out with Erin. She explained that there is nothing better with my co-worker being chosen myself with assisting the Production Assistant position, it's just that in the long run my tenure is expected to expire in the end of the upcoming school year and she will still be there. I told her that while I have rationalized it to my understanding, the feeling sucks.

Things have been looking up. I'm not agitated with the presence of people nor am I miserable in my place of work. It's a shame when your own boss can detect your discomfort in the office. But it should be different now.

Other news: My Mom and I have been working out together. Strange right!?
Last Thursday, my Mom asked me if we could play tennis together. I tried to teach her, but that failed with her disregard of me telling her how to properly hit the ball. The next day we wandered into the neighboring base gym and worked out for 30mins. She gave me massive grief for the elliptical, slowing down so much the machine turned off, but she ended up loving the BICYCLE!!! I'm warning her that she'll need to switch up exercises but she's resistant. We're going to try to make an arrangement: M/F we'll go to the gym on the base and one-two other days of the week, I'll take it upon myself to go to the gym at SDSU where I'm a member.

Silver Lining: I'm 173 lbs. I've lost 4lbs. It's been over a month, but I'm exercising not to make an impact now but to make a lifestyle change. Although it's not much, it's proof of healthy eating and cutting out foods. weekly exercise and more.

188: Total Body Fitness > 7 Hour Nap

  • I have only a matter of minutes before the clock hits midnight which will then mean that  I've missed over three days of blogging.
  • The last several days have been busy. No really, busy. Well...except for today where I went to work, hit the gym, took my first Group Fitness class in Total Body Fitness. Since I was slow and out of beat (embarrassing), I was having trouble 15 minutes into the class. Hopefully I can go again on Tuesday without fail.
  • Headed home afterwards, and after a cup of my left over Boysenberry yogurt from Yogurtmill from yesterday, I cuddled with Abbey which turned into sleeping for seven hours. Yes, that means I woke up only an hour ago and had dinner. Now my legs and my bum feel like they're melting off and I only hope I can do more intensity training so I can get out of the red zone for Diabetes and High Blood Pressure.

187: Eyes, Oil, and Mini Golf...oh my?

  • No work.
  • Went to my Eye Doctor Appointment and found that I need new glasses.
  • Chilled at home until Rahmaan gave me the green light to come over to his house.
  • Abbey's getting in the habit of knocking over the trash. Luckily, we have a lock on it now :)
underneath all of that, is rahmaan trying to locate my oil filter
  • Went over to Rahmaan's so he could teach me how to change my oil. We went to Autozone to get a $25 deal for a new filter, plug, oil pan, and oil amongst other things for my car. Unlike Autoport that charges $40 and the place around the corner that charges $25 and you wait for three hours. Since my car was foreign and Rahmaan had to get look for the oil filter and plug in my car, instead of teaching me it turned into helping him locate things. The only thing I did was put the oil in. No manual labor for me yet. I'm probably going to have to purchase bricks or a ramp for my car in the near future as well as a socket wrench so I can truly do it on my own and maan's supervision later.
  • bought maan sandwiches from Subway as a Thank You.

  • Maan and I hung out with Cassandra and went to  Boomers in El Cajon, Target, and Yogurt Mill. When we arrived in Boomers, I realized that I had been there before with my friend Denise when we were 9 years old. It's not as put together as the one in Clairemont, but the bathrooms were kind of rank and falling apart.

186:

  • work.
  • went up to Mira Mesa to meet with Lily at her new place she's sharing with Rhona, Brandon, and Trish. We continued talking about the lesson plans we're developing for the Cultural Enrichment Program at KCS in a couple of weeks. Jon came over in his lunch break to bring us Orange Chicken. :) After several hours, we finished 2 LPs with Veronica Mars and Daria playing in the background or when we hit a brick wall in planning.
  • when we were done Trish and Jon came over after work and we assembled several tables. Productive day to say the least.

185:

  • I think I'm back on track with the blogging. Let's hope so. It'll be embarrassing to find myself at 367 posts at the end of this year. =/
  • I went to my physical this morning. I was happy to know that I didn't have to do the embarrassing [tmi] but rather just expressing my health concerns. For example the reason why I set up a physical for myself was because Scott is pre-hypertension. So the doctor revealed to me that because of my weight, I'm at risk of being in hypertension. Super discouraging news. Even more kick in the butt news to really get my weight super in check. Turns out the Fair was really of no help at all. =/ The Doctor told me that I need to lose at 10% of body fat equating to 22lbs with a Low Carb diet. I'm only 21 and I'm a candidate for High Blood Pressure. That sucks.
  • Then I found out that I barely passed my CBEST by 1 pt. 120/121. With health news, not passing the CBEST, as well as my money problems, this is how I felt

Late 184: Fritz and Amber's Wedding

  • It was my cousin Fritz's wedding yesterday at the US Grant Hotel Downtown. All I have to say is that the venue for the ceremony and reception were absolutely stunning and gorgeous. Fritz really knows how to plan something. It really was beautiful. It was really hard not to cry during both events just because you could feel the happiness emanating from both of them. It was the happiest of occasions just because you honestly knew how much they loved each other despite either not knowing them too well.

Congratulations Fritz and Amber Garcia. :)

  • My Mom really wanted us to have photos taken of us so she rallied Marc for a pseudo-photographer/honorary Bruan.
  • My default blue dress was a bit of a tight fit, so I quickly got together this outfit from Kandi's Charity Event on Friday. It's funny to think that I've gone clubbing in that outfit too. ;P But it really kicks my butt into more gear to loose weight since my default dress doesn't fit anymore.

53: Lent

I gave up cursing and rice. If I happen to let a bad word slip through, 15 burpies. It's only fair.

1: Resolutions

I've never been up for resolutions.  I don't know why, I think it's because I know it'll never work out really. Somehow I can keep up with Lenten Sacrifices way better than New Years Resolutions. Slip on one, you just disappoint yourself. The other? Um...disappoint a higher being. Ouch. Yeah, no wonder why I do Lenten Sacrifices better.

New Years Resolutions:
1. Lose Weight goal 10 lbs by Graduation in May - As cliche as it sounds, I work out and do so much work during the breaks. But when the semester comes around, being broke and excessive library hours lures the intake of cheap fatty foods and high sugar count. I have a gym membership I don't use. Ouch. Yeah. 10 lbs by the end of May 2012.

2. Better Organizational Process: Desk - I have a table at home that I just don't use. It's always cluttered with tidbits, books, and papers that I just rip out of my book bag and on my desk. I need to utilize this space better and use it. If I'm going to attempt beauty blogging. I need a table space for image taking and brainstorming. I've spent so much time organizing my wall with calendars and pin boards for notes yet the space itself is not utilized. So File Organize my Table at least once a month and clean my table at least twice a month.

3. Stop Hoarding Tidbits - I have a problem. I collect business cards that I hope to use and other tidbits that just find their way on my table and in between pages of my books. It's a horrible habit because they accumulate into a pile on my table of "What-The-Hell-To-Do-With-This-Shit?" pile. It's horrible.

4. Better Organizational Process: Makeup - I have more things than the space that I have and I believe Sterlite drawers and anything I can successfully put things into would be a lot better.

Alright and I vow that the first of the month will be an update with my Resolution goals.
